A meta-study published by Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment explores alien species as drivers of recent extinctions. Species moved from their origin to a new location--primarily by humans--is the #1 cause of extinction.
Of the 935 total recent extinctions in our dataset, 261 of 782 animal species (33.4%) and 39 of 153 plant species (25.5%) had aliens listed as one of the extinction drivers (Figure 1). Alien species ranked first as a driver of animal extinctions, well ahead of the second-ranked driver, biological resource use (ie hunting and harvesting), with 18.8% of species affected. Aliens also ranked first for plant extinctions, slightly ahead of biological resource use (a driver in 23.5% of plant extinctions) and agriculture (19.6%). In contrast, only 2.7% of animal extinctions (21 species; rank 8th) and 4.6% of plant extinctions (seven species; rank 7th) had native species listed as one of the extinction drivers.
Personal carbon allowances revisited - Published in Nature, advocates for a radical new authoritarianism where you are taxed for the very air you exhale.
the economic mechanism of PCAs is envisaged to influence decision-making by assigning a visible carbon price to the purchase and use of fossil-fuel-based energy in the first instance and possibly also to consumption-related emissions in more advanced PCA designs
Wrong Again: 50 Years of Failed Eco-pocalyptic Predictions
On That Heat Island Effect (Not Climate Change) - An article documenting the "Heat Island Effect", a means by which individual temperature readings can trend upwards without an actual increase in global temperature.
Carbon dioxide: The good news by Indur Goklany, with a foreward by Freeman Dyson, which states:
Indur Goklany has assembled a massive collection of evidence to demonstrate two facts. First, the non-climatic effects of carbon dioxide are dominant over the climatic effects and are overwhelmingly beneficial. Second, the climatic effects observed in the real world are much less damaging than the effects predicted by the climate models, and have also been frequently beneficial. I am hoping that the scientists and politicians who have been blindly demonizing carbon dioxide for 37 years will one day open their eyes and look at the evidence.
The World Climate Declaration, another declaration by a large group of scientists that asserts: There is no climate emergency. There are other points made, some of which I am a bit skeptical of, but the general pull is in the correct direction.
Six facts the left doesn't want yoi to know about global warming
A League of Discontent - A wonderful article detailing the communist, elite-supported roots of the group "Extinction Rebellion".
The Imaginary Climate Crisis: How can we Change the Message? A talk by Richard Lindzen. The concluding paragraph follows:
Our task is to show the relevant people the overall stupidity of this issue rather than punching away at details. In focusing on the details, we are merely trying to showcase our own specialties. My use of the word ‘merely’ is probably unjustified; the details can, in fact, be scientifically important. However, we are not considering either our target audience or the intrinsic absurdity of the issue. It is likely that we have to capitalize on the insecurity of the educated elite and make them look silly instead of superior and virtuous. We must remember that they are impervious to real science unless it is reduced to their level. When it is reduced to their level, it is imperative that we, at least, retain veracity. Whether we are capable of effectively doing this is an open question.
The temperature–CO2 climate connection: an epistemological reappraisal of ice-core messages. A peer reviewed evaluation of the ice-core data on CO2.
Because CO2 emissions are considered to be the single most important factor currently affecting climate, unprecedented efforts are being formulated to achieve carbon-free societies within a few decades. In view of the major social, environmental, political and economic issues raised by such a transition, two points deserve special attention. The first concerns geochemical evidence available for the greenhouse effects of CO2 (and of CH4 as well) over periods of time long enough to encompass great climate cycles. The second deals with the actual heuristic value of climate simulations, which appears to be generally acknowledged without having undergone real in-depth analyses. Both points will, thus, be reviewed critically from an epistemological standpoint in the present study. In fact, the approach followed will be justified by serious weaknesses pointed out on both counts, which will, in particular, illustrate once more why models that are now so extensively relied on in many fields of science and in public policies can lack any real demonstrative value.
Your Environment - thorough records of Canadian climate, etc. data. Curiously, no global warming trend!
A very comprehensive list of global studies that show no warming trends.
Saturation of the Infrared Absorption by Carbon Dioxide in the Atmosphere by Dieter Schildknecht - a 2020 paper critically examining claims of "greenhouse" feedback from a physical perspective.
Based on new radiative transfer numerical evaluations, we reconsider an argument presented by Schack in 1972 that says that saturation of the absorption of infrared radiation by carbon dioxide in the atmosphere sets in as soon as the relative concentration of carbon dioxide exceeds a lower limit of approximately 300 ppm. We provide a concise brief and explicit representation of the greenhouse effect of the earth's atmosphere. We find an equilibrium climate sensitivity (temperature increase ΔT due to doubling of atmospheric CO2 concentration) of ΔT≃0.50C. We elaborate on the consistency of these results on ΔT with results observationally obtained by satellite-based measurements of short-time radiation-flux versus surface-temperature changes.
From 2012, a A letter from 49 former NASA scientists and astronauts (archive) rejecting the hypothesis that CO2 is implicated in climate change.
The unbridled advocacy of CO2 being the major cause of climate change is unbecoming of NASA’s history of making an objective assessment of all available scientific data prior to making decisions or public statements.
